DONATE VIA DONOR ADVISED FUNDS (DAF)
A tax-smart way to give.
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that is set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. Individuals can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets into the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. Those funds are invested for tax-free growth and the individual can recommend donations to charities of their choice over time.
Please consult your tax advisor for information about your specific exceptions and to make sure you qualify.
DONATE VIA YOUR IRA
Over 72? This one’s for you!
A qualified charitable distribution is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charitable organization, like Cathedral Choral Society. Because your contribution goes directly to our organization without passing through your hands, the donation may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $100,000, with some exceptions.
Please consult your tax advisor for information about your specific exceptions and to make sure you qualify.
MAKE A STOCK DONATION
No capital gains tax.
Gifts of stock do not incur capital gains tax, and you may be able to claim a federal income tax deduction based on the full reasonable value of the securities on the effective date of your gift.
If you haven’t given a gift of stock to the Cathedral Choral Society before, you may request our stock transfer guide by clicking the ‘Stock Transfer Information’ link, or by emailing Donor & Patron Manager Gabriela Calderon at gcalderon@cathedral.org.
When we receive a stock transfer, your name will not be listed, so please contact us to let us know how you would like the gift credited and acknowledged.
