Journey to England’s great sacred spaces in Cathedral Choral Society’s next concert, In Severn and Stone: Music for an English Cathedral. Inspired by the storied cathedrals and ancient landscapes that shaped composers such as Herbert Howells, Hubert Hastings Parry, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Judith Bingham, Edward Bairstow, and Benjamin Britten, this program explores the musical tradition born between soaring vaults and hallowed halls—a tradition that includes our city’s own cathedral. Join CCS in experiencing this quintessential English music in a unique concert setting, where echoes endure and stone itself seems to sing.

“This performance is brought to you by the Cathedral Choral Society (CCS). CCS is a 501(c)(3) performing arts organization, and it is separate from Washington National Cathedral. We celebrate the opportunity to be able to produce art in this magnificent space; the concert is not a production of the Washington National Cathedral.”
