The Cathedral Choral Society’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the search for its third music director.
The chorus is seeking a creative and collaborative artistic leader to serve as Music Director beginning with the 2018/19 season. A search committee has been appointed by the Board and accepted applications and nominations through March 30, 2017.

The Cathedral Choral Society is the resident symphonic chorus of Washington National Cathedral. Founded in 1941 by Paul Callaway, the 145-voice chorus is the oldest symphonic choral group in Washington, DC. From 1985 to 2016, J. Reilly Lewis served as its second Music Director, leading performances ranging from symphonic choral masterpieces to world premieres.
The Music Director will be responsible for ensuring that the chorus’ artistic potential is realized. They will be charged with the continued development of the Cathedral Choral Society as one of the nation’s finest symphonic choruses and will have the skill, experience, and drive to help lead the artistic development of the organization. The Music Director will be a leading voice for the organization and its music, actively engaging the organization in the life of the broader community.
